Pastor
Tom Frantz
From a farming community in Illinois, to a Christian school in Hawaii, to the pulpit on N Monroe Street — the long way God brought our pastor to Blissfield.

Pastor of Blissfield Baptist Church since August 22, 1999

His story
“It has been my privilege to pastor an amazing group of people”
Pastor Tom Frantz was born in Rockford, Illinois in 1959 and was raised in a farming community. As a child he was raised to value a strong work ethic and to be a person who honors their word.
At the age of 15, he was invited to a youth group activity by his sister at Berean Baptist Church in Rockford, Illinois. It was at this time that he saw his need as a sinner and accepted Christ as his personal Savior. Later that year, he felt God's leading to become a preacher. Upon graduating from high school, he attended Maranatha Baptist Bible College and graduated in 1982 with a bachelors of science degree in Bible and pastoral ministries.
In August of 1982 came a phone call with the opportunity to teach in a Christian school in Hawaii. While serving at Lanakila Baptist Church and Schools, he transitioned from school teacher, to Youth Director, to Assistant Pastor. It was during this time that he met his wife, Susan, and began his family.
In November 1988, God's call was clear that his time in Hawaii was at an end and it was time to pursue a full time pastorate. He moved his family to Rockford, Illinois and waited on God's leading and timing.
In January 1991, Pastor Frantz and his family were called to a small church in Kankakee, Illinois. While at Calvary Baptist Church, the ministry thrived to where they eventually purchased a new building and moved to accommodate their growing ministry. It was also during this time that he was able to further his education by attending sessions at the Biblical Counseling Center in Arlington Heights for nouthetic biblical counseling. In the summer of 1999, God made it clear that it was time to leave the ministry in Kankakee and turn the helm over to a new pastor.
In August 1999, Pastor Frantz accepted the invitation to candidate at Blissfield Baptist Church in Blissfield, Michigan. He officially accepted the position of pastor on August 22, 1999. He is thankful to God for the opportunity to minister here in Blissfield and looks forward to continuing to minister here and to reach the surrounding communities for the cause of Christ.
